Your well-socialized pups are invited to join professional Dog Walker, Connor Burton and 4-7 other local dogs for daily walks in neighborhood parks! Coming by 2026! In the meantime, we are taking pre-orders to help pay for essential renovations to a transport van. You can also join the list with just a $1 deposit.
Back in 2017, the original vision of Burton and Dogs was all about group walks. The idea was to get multiple dogs in the same neighborhood (or on the same street) to sign up for walks so that we could travel on foot from one house to another—picking up dogs as we went—so that we could walk them around the community.
Today, a similar idea forms the basis for our desire to create a professional group dog walking service, but with a cargo van instead of merely our own two feet and impossible route density goals.
The idea is fairly simple and yet exciting: imagine a cargo van with 10 or so kennels in it, mounted down to the floor. We drive the van from house to house, picking up dogs as we go, and transport them safely to a local park where we walk them in groups of 5 to 8 (or perhaps more). The walk lasts 45 minutes, but the dogs are out of the house for as long as 3 hours. The service costs the client as little as $23/session. And the Walker makes a living wage that can help support his or her family. The van is electric, adding little in the way of emissions, and the AC unit is powered partly by solar panels. The interior is insulated and equipped with a pressurized hydration system for the dogs. The van employs two people—the Lead Dog Walker and their assistant, who earns a modest compensation for making sure an extra hand is available to care for the dogs and take excellent photos and videos of the walks. They livestream the session on Instagram and Facebook.
So, that's the idea. But there's a little bit more...
We want to do something else with these group walks. We want to open one of them up on Saturdays to the whole community to create a space for connection, exercise, and morning sunlight.
You remember what we're all about as a company, right? Making Happy? Well, one of our goals is to help increase mental wellness through physical exercise. Our Saturday Group Walks will be about more than just walking dogs; they will be community events to which anyone who is interested in improving their mental health is invited. Resources will be shared with those struggling with depression. Listening ears and compassionate voices will be present. Counselors will be there on behalf of our non-profit partners. But most of all, what will be there is a sense of community and forward-movement. It's going to be fun!
